Fake Beauties

You know how some people can look a little “done”?  Anaphylactic lips, strong hairline, 48-pack?

It can happen with writing, too.

Poetic conventions are great, but they should be used sparingly.  A little alliteration here, maybe some simile there.  Give it some purpose.  It should come as naturally as leaves to a tree, or it had better not come at all (thanks, Keats!).  You don’t want to create the Jocelyn Wildensteins and Heidi Montags of written word…unless, of course, it serves a purpose 😉
